2011 US YOUTH SOCCER ODP GIRLS THANKSGIVING INTERREGIONAL WRAPS UP IN FLORIDA

FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 25, 2011)
 –The 2011 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Girls Thanksgiving Interregional competition concluded today with the 1996 and 1997 age groups at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.
 

1996
The Region I girls turned in a perfect week, going 3-0 after a 4-0 over Region III. Eliza Doll put Region I in front early with a 7th minute strike and Carissima Cutrona extended the lead to three with goals in the 14th and 35th before Monica Flores capped the scoring in the 66th.

 

After falling to Region I by a goal in the opening game, Region IV got their second straight victory with a 1-0 win over Region II. Zoe Higgins scored the lone goal of the game for the Westerners in the 65th minute.

 

1997

Region IV completed a perfect week in the 1997s after holding off Region II for a 3-2 victory. Region IV opened up a 3-0 lead on goals from Victoria Buda, Kayla Braunthal and Anika Rodriguez. Region II made a run for it with two goals in five minutes of the second half from Katie Murray and Marisa Viggiano, but the comeback would fall short as Region IV finishes 3-0 on the week.

 

Region I grabbed their first victory in Florida with a 1-0 win versus Region III. Keri Cavallo netted the winner in just the 8th minute to give her three for the week.
