GIRLS LEAGUE DONATES $62,000 TO FOUNDATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Greater Indiana Regional League of Soccer (GIRLS) league board of directors has voted to donate approximately $62,000 to the Indiana Soccer Foundation. “This is a very exciting announcement for both GIRLS and the Indiana Soccer Foundation, said Dean Vinten, Foundation President. “It allows a very important program of the GIRLS league to continue”. On November 17, 2012, GIRLS officially voted to dissolve the league due to the expansion of the Indiana Soccer League (ISL) of Indiana Soccer.
This gift is in the form of a restricted donation to be used specifically for providing scholarships every season to Indiana girls travel soccer players who are registered, through Indiana Soccer, with US Youth Soccer.
Jim Heck, the GIRLS league treasurer, will join the foundation’s Grant Committee to assist in implementing this scholarship program. The general outline of the program is to award up to $3,000 per season, the individual award up to $200 depending upon the individual's need. Applications, done through the player's club to the Foundation, will be posted soon on the Foundation web site; www.indianasoccerfoundation.org
