Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame Announces The 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees

The Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame is proud to announce that it will be inducting two new members into its Hall of Fame at the 2023 Indiana Soccer Annual General Meeting and Awards Gala. Veteran youth and college coach Mike Getman and retiring Indiana high school and youth coach Doug Deidrich will be honored Saturday, January 28th, 2023, with their full induction into the HOF.

Getman played for Indiana University (1978-81), earing All-American honors, as well as being instrumental in starting the Bloomington SC Cosmos with Nick Matavuli (Indiana Soccer HOF) Dennis Grace (Indiana HOF). After his career as a Hoosier, Getman played professionally with the Detroit Express, being named Rookie of the year in the ASL. The Express became ASL Champions (1982-1983). After his professional career ended, Getman became an Assistant Coach under Jerry Yeagley (Indiana Soccer HOF) at Indiana University and later the Head Coach Harvard University (1987-1991). He became the youngest coach to reach NCAA Div I final four.

Doug Diedrich 

Diedrich has been involved in soccer as a player and coach in the Evansville area for the past 40 years as a player at U of Evansville and as a club and High School Coach. He recently retired as the Head Soccer coach at Castle High School where his overall record of 432-109-61 including both Boys and Girls teams. His team won eight sectional titles as well as five regional titles. The Knights were State runners-up in 1999 and State Champions in 2000. Coach Diedrich moved to the Girls program in 2012 where his teams won seven sectional and three regional championships. Between the Boys and Girls programs Doug’s teams won 12 Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Championships in 31 years. He was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018.
