Indiana Soccer & Joy Carter, TOPSoccer liaison had the unique opportunity to visit the Butler TOPSoccer program a few weekends ago in September. The Butler TOPSoccer program in partnership with Dynamo FC started this program around 10 years ago, and it has been going strong ever since. With the leadership of Tari St. John (Butler women’s soccer head coach), the program thrives and many of the athletes have been coming since the beginning.
"It was so fantastic to see so many familiar faces. We really enjoyed not only watching, but hearing the happiness of women’s soccer athletes from Butler, and TOPSoccer athletes from Washington Township to the point of tears forming in our eyes." said Joy Carter.
The session was the first one in over a year after the hardships of COVID. Ben, one of the TOPSoccer athletes introduced himself to Joy. He asked Joy her name and she replied “Joy” like happy Joy, his reply was priceless “well then you are always happy”. "This made me realize that being with and seeing these athletes is what it's all about" added Joy.
Being a part of this program has never failed to bring the Indiana Soccer Family happiness. "Whether it was the first TOPSoccer “state cup” held in Columbus, IN, or a visit to Holy Cross Notre Dame for the Michiana Echo program, all have brought many moments of delight." said Joy.
TOPSoccer is an all-inclusive program for exceptional children and adults. It doesn’t matter if a player has a physical or mental disability, they are welcome to participate in one of our programs that we have at various clubs throughout our state.
