Fort Wayne United’s Claire Ward first female coach in Indiana to obtain USSF “B” License
Bradenton Florida, Nov 2019 – United States Soccer Federation awarded Fort Wayne United Coach Claire Ward the National “B” Coaching License. Only 30 men and 5 women qualified for the opportunity to take this course from over 500 people who applied.
The National “B” license course is a 6-month education and mentorship process for coaches in the U15-U19 age groups. This includes (3) week-long periods of on-site assessment in Bradenton, Florida, with a total of 17 assignments. The USSF “B” License elevates coaching education in order to impact player environments. Better environments equal better players.
Fort Wayne United takes coaching education very seriously. In the last three years, FWU coaches Nick Potter, Aaron Tulloch and JC Couto have also obtained this licensure from the USSF. Claire has been the only female coach in the history of the club to be awarded this same distinction.
In 2020, Claire intends to further cement her reputation for coaching excellence by applying for the USSF “A” license. This rigorous program will require 9 months of mentorship and training, all while she continues coaching multiple teams and building youth soccer programs to encourage the youth in Northeast Indiana to come play the beautiful game.
Congratulations to Coach Claire Ward on an amazing accomplishment! We wish you much success as you continue your soccer coaching education pursuits.
