Congratulations to the Hoosier FC 2007 Boys Elite Wolves for clinching a spot in the US Youth Soccer Nationals in Arizona in January, 2023. We spoke to coach Tom Keenan and below is what he had to say about the team's performance,
The National League Pro has been great for the Hoosier FC 2007 BE team. The team had the opportunity to play in some of the top facilities in the country against very strong competition. After the first round of games in Orlando, FL the team put itself in a great position getting seven of the nine points. Heading to Mesa, AZ in January, the team knew it was going to be very difficult as we played two very good teams from Maryland that were also in the top four of the NL Pro standings after the Orlando games.
In Arizona the team was fantastic all weekend and were able to win all three games. The individual defending, team defending and goalkeeping was great as we only conceded one goal in all three games. In the Bethesda game it was back and forth with both teams creating chances throughout the game. We were able to break down the backline and score the game winner with five minutes left in the game.
Heading into our final game against Potomac we knew we were in a great spot. Knowing that a win could put us in position to win the group depending on what happened in another game being played simultaneously. The Potomac game again was a great game with Hoosier FC breaking through in the last minute of the first half and again winning the game 1-0 and to secure first place in the group.
We are extremely excited to represent Hoosier FC, the Great Lakes Conference and the State of Indiana at the USYS National Championship in Orlando, FL in July.
I would like to thank the players and the parents for their continuous support. This is not possible to be in this position without the buy in and support from the parents.
