Keep Kids Playing Campaign

This week our reality has changed significantly. COVID-19 also known as the coronavirus has affected jobs, schools, and events on a global level as well as here in the United States. Indiana Soccer has temporarily suspended the spring soccer season in response to the pandemic. We have done this in order to protect the health and safety of coaches, players, as well as staff members. Concurrently to our making this tough decision, school districts across in Central Indiana decided in order to prevent further spread of the virus to close their doors and ask their students and teachers to engage in eLearning. As a result of our decision and the actions of the school districts, children will be losing the opportunity to interact with their peers as they are forced to stay homes.

In response to this crisis and to continue our commitment to play, skill and competition, Indiana Soccer Association is launching The Champions eLeague Series.

The series will give members of our soccer community the opportunity to bond and engage with one another in a fun & safe environment as they play against their peers. We are putting in place a safe and competition friendly digital environment. Parents won’t have to worry about who their children are interacting with, since the players are the same players, they would engage in grass play. The benefits of esports while ideally it should be combined with grass play, does provide continued development of cognitive skills, communication, and teamwork. They can still enjoy the fellowship and engagement soccer play provides, but from the safety of their home.

This program is open to all Indiana Soccer clubs and is offered free to all clubs and their players. Access will be members of your soccer community only, it is an imperative that the safety of your child is always first and foremost. Many of your players will be frustrated from not being able to play with their friends and teammates, they will try to find some type of connectivity through the internet. We want to ensure that their alternative from grass play soccer is safe, engaging and productive.

The COVID-19 virus might prevent our players from interacting with one another but, we cannot allow this to stop developing in the environment of competitive and fun play. Let’s keep kids playing.

 Advantages of Champions eLeague:

  • Children can interact with one another through video games
  • Opportunity to bond & engage during downtime
  • Parents will know kids are playing in a safe environment (Child Safety Act)
  • Esports benefits includes cognitive development, communication, and teamwork
  • Free to all Indiana soccer clubs & their members
