Regional Competition In Indiana

Indiana Soccer, the Indiana Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Meulensteen North America are excited to announce a partnership to bring the United States Technical Championship (UTSC) series to Indiana.   Indiana will host a UTSC Regional Competition at the following site in Indiana in August 4, 2019 at the IUPUI Carroll Stadium in downtown Indianapolis. (See Registration link at the bottom of this page; fee to participate is $76).

The United States Technical Championships is a technical skill soccer competition. This is the only event of its kind in North America. The USTC is designed to educate players on the technical skills necessary to dominate their opponent. The day consists of two main components. In the morning, players are educated on the four 1v1 situations and the skills needed to win them (sample schedule). In the afternoon, participants play in small sided games are encouraged to show their personality and their skills. (Sample One Day Schedule; please note this is a sample not the exact schedule for the August 4, 2019 event). Participants spend their day maximizing their time on the ball in a positive, yet challenging environment. Winners are not chosen by the fastest move, the hardest shot. Winners are chosen by our staff identifying who "Makes the Difference" in the game. Meulensteen Method is in search of players who play with confidence and creativity along with soccer intelligence and a dose of personality. Several Regional Winners are chosen in each age group and invited to the USTC National Finals (date/time/location TBD) where we will identify Age Group National Winners and an overall Grand Champion. Overall age-group winners and Grand Champion receive an invite to participate in the Dutch Technical Championship.

The Indiana Olympic Development Program goals are to provide for the unfolding of ideas about the game of soccer, to provide the players confidence and ideas to solve problems the game presents them, and to provide opportunities for the gradual growth and advancement through challenging, creative, and positive training and playing environments.  Indiana ODP endorses the “Meulensteen Method” as a key component in the overall player development process.

Indiana ODP scouts will be present to identify players for the Age Group State Pools (2005, 2007 and 2008/2009s).  The new ODP calendar year begins in September (see the ODP master calendar to get an idea of our 2019-2020 schedule by clicking here).  Players identified via the UTSC Regional Championships will receive an invitation email a few days after the event. For additional information about ODP please visit the our Indiana ODP page or contact Joy Carter, ODP Administrator.
