The Indiana Soccer family has been the beneficiary of many wonderful servants for nearly five decades. Last week, one of the most dedicated and long-time contributors Indiana Soccer has ever had the privilege of knowing succumbed to cancer.
Dr. Bruce Carlstedt devoted an extraordinary amount of his time and talent to the Indiana Soccer family for more than four decades. Bruce was a player who continued competing well into his 70s, and he was one of the founders of Westfield Youth Soccer—a club that has grown to serve more than 1,000 players. He was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame in 2009 and has been recognized on the Indiana Referee Honor Roll since 1992.
“Bruce was a prince of a man—humble, talented, giving, and one who truly practiced servant leadership. It was a privilege to know him. Bruce can never be replaced; He will forever be an example for how each of us should live our lives,” stated Dave Guthrie, Executive Director of Indiana Soccer.
