One of the greatest strengths of the Indiana Soccer community has always been that we are more than leagues, clubs, teams, and competitions—we are a family. When one member of our soccer family faces unimaginable hardship, we have an opportunity to demonstrate the compassion, generosity, and support that define who we are.

We do not routinely share individual fundraising requests. However, there are occasions when a tragedy touches our community so deeply that it calls for us to come together in support of one of our own.

Recently, I received the following message from Brittany Lohorn regarding nine-year-old Remi, a player with Boiler FC and a member of our Indiana Soccer family. What began as a family vacation ended in a devastating accident that resulted in the traumatic loss of her right hand. While the physical and emotional challenges ahead will be significant, those who know Remi describe her as a determined young athlete whose first thoughts have already turned toward getting back on the soccer field.

The road ahead for Remi and her family will involve extensive medical care, rehabilitation, travel, prosthetic expenses, and countless unforeseen challenges. More importantly, they will need the encouragement, prayers, and support of the community that surrounds them.

I invite you to read Brittany’s message below. If you are able, please consider supporting Remi and her family in whatever way you feel led—whether through prayer, sharing her story, offering words of encouragement, or making a financial contribution through the family’s verified GoFundMe campaign.

Thank you for helping demonstrate what it truly means to be part of the Indiana Soccer family.

Dave Guthrie, Executive Director, Indiana Soccer

“I’m reaching out today because I know how incredible and close knit the Indiana soccer community is, and I’m hoping you might be willing to help one of our own. Remi is a 9-year-old player with BoilerFC and a beloved member of the ISL community. While on what was supposed to be a fun family vacation in Utah, Remi was involved in a tragic side-by-side UTV accident that resulted in the traumatic amputation of her right hand.

She is currently receiving amazing care at Sunrise Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas and will soon be flown home to Indiana, where she’ll continue treatment and rehabilitation at Riley Children’s Hospital. As you can imagine, her family is facing an overwhelming road ahead with medical expenses, travel costs, rehabilitation, prosthetics, and so many unknowns.

Those who know anything about Remi, know she’s a fighter. Even after everything she’s been through, she’s already talking about getting back on the soccer field. That determination says everything about who she is.“

If anyone feels led to help, the family’s verified GoFundMe can be found here:

Even if someone isn’t able to donate, sharing Remi’s story, sending prayers, sharing the GoFundMe or simply keeping her in their thoughts can make a tremendous difference.

Here is her mom’s profile on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/patience.tincher

As well as her mom’s email address: ptincher9@gmail.com

With gratitude,

Brittany Lohorn
